We originally purchased our lot in 2018, thinking it would be a great place to escape for the weekend. We had planned on setting up the tent for the summer and having a quick place to get-away.

When we first purchased the lot it was a huge mess! In fact, when we first went to look for the property we drove right past it as the driveway was completely grown over and covered with downed tress. I think we ended up hauling close to 30 trailer loads full of slash off the property. It was a TON of work!

Somehow we went from “tenting it” to building our “cabin” starting construction in 2021.

At some point we decided we needed a headquarters to stay in while we were working on the construction. We started with the tent platform, then as time passed we moved into our detached garage.

A few construction highlights, from bringing in power, septic system, building the detached garage, pouring foundations, well drilling and framing the house.

We have spent countless hours building the house, most of the lumber you see (countertops, baseboards, door casing) was milled on-site with our chainsaw mill.
